The maps of the original ranchos are interesting if you know the city because you can see how the old names have been preserved in contemporary Los Angeles. I was particularly tickled to see “Los Felis” on this colorful map, since I live in present day Los Feliz. The ranch was named after the original recipient of the land grant, Corporal José Vicente Feliz.
